Getting ready for the new school year just got a whole lot easier! 🎒 CCSD is hosting a Back to School Resource Event across three communities, offering families free school supplies, donated clothes, shoes, and backpacks, food bags, and even free haircuts to help students start the year feeling confident and prepared.

CCSD is proud to shine a light on Mrs. Rachael Charleston, a 4th-grade teacher at Mesa Elementary who has been recognized as #TeacherOfTheMonth for her outstanding commitment to student growth, instructional excellence, and leadership throughout the school community.
In her classroom, Mrs. Charleston has created a vibrant, data-rich learning environment where every student knows their path to success. Through her meticulous use of student-facing "Data Walls" and personalized Data ELA and Data Math groups, she celebrates individual progress and ensures high expectations are paired with high levels of support. Her mastery of the HMH "Into Reading" curriculum and Science of Reading principles comes alive through innovative, multi-modal lessons—blending traditional literacy instruction with BrainPop videos, Promethean Board activities, and hands-on learning experiences that engage visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners simultaneously.
Mrs. Charleston serves as PLC Lead and Science Lead, facilitating professional learning communities and mentoring colleagues in inquiry-based learning and vertical alignment. Her classroom serves as a "Learning Lab" where she models high-quality instruction for the entire school community. Whether fostering a PAX-centered classroom where every student has a voice and a role, or collaborating with the Innovation Transformation Team to drive school-wide growth, Mrs. Charleston remains a steadfast advocate for academic excellence and equity. Ms. Miller's pre-K class at Mesa Elementary just hit a major milestone — 100 books read at home! 🎉 All year long, students took four books home each week, and after 25 weeks of reading together with their families, they crossed the finish line in the sweetest way possible: a banana split celebration!
